I'm so, so happy that this fantastic series is getting such a great adaptation. Every frame screams of SOVL; especially the dance number ED. D is a wonderfully compelling protagonist and Suzukiri does things to me.

This adaptation is going severely above and beyond what I expected. The manga for this sells decently enough but not like super amazing. So I was just kind of expecting a standard production. I did not think we'd be getting an anime of this caliber with some sick directing tricks and sakuga (that scene where D charges the Keepers in his mind for example looked incredible).

I'm so glad this is 2-cours. I hope they can keep the momentum going

Been enjoying this so far, so curious to see where it goes from here. spoiler[While I wouldn't be surprised if D isn't dead, I was expecting him to somehow recover from his hand, so using that hand as a fake sword was a neat surprise]

As a Super Sentai fan, I'm enjoying not only the dark and twisted rendition of the genre (that obviously knows it's roots in an out right down to the dancing ED sequence) but is also just a pretty well-animated, well-directed, and enjoyable series.

Fighter D is a very compelling protagonist (especially with Yusuke Kobayashi's voice), Suzukiri literally makes me want to be her chair, the and Keepers are effective antagonists.

Also I love how Sentai VA alum Yuichi Nakamura and legit Sentai actress MAO are playing Rangers here.

Guess we know what the big cosplay group dances will be at cons this summer. Smile

I'm not baptized in the sentai religion, but have a passing familiarity, so I'm having a good time with this. There's a Deadman Wonderland vibe to it, but it's cloaked in upbeat sentai accessibility. Still, it keeps provoking feelings I'm not entirely sure how to describe - dread? sadness? despair? Basically I'm pretty amazed at how much I'm relating to D and the other Dusters' struggle.

With her insectoid eyes and antenna pigtails, I'm guessing Suzukiri is an alien from another invading race. Eagerly awaiting finding out what her deal really is. Hibiki's an odd duck too.

As someone who is currently reading Ranger Reject, I am going to refrain from comment anything about the plot; instead the animation is quite good and enlivens the manga.

Honestly I can't decide which one I am enjoying the most between this and Konosuba.

A lot of the Hekiru fight got cut out for the anime, unfortunately. That's something I can live with, but spoiler[revealing Hibiki's face as barely damaged when it's supposed to be horribly disfigured] is a real issue that's gonna cause problems down the line. I'm surprised that they didn't show the end of Hibiki's backstory, but maybe it'll get saved for later.

One detail and piece of dialog from the manga that got cut/didn't get properly explained is that in previous episodes, D's transformation into Hibiki had "flat" eyes, monocolored or with a plain gradient. Then in the scene when Hibiki cuts off his own hand, D says something along the lines of "I couldn't quite get your eyes right before, but I think I get it now," followed by the "perfect" replication of the ultra-sparkly eyes that Hibiki has.

But yeah, the entire switcheroo strategy was heavily abbreviated here. Crucially, spoiler[Hekiru had been tricked earlier by D using a cut-off hand in an attack, that's why part of the strategy for that final confrontation required Hibiki to cut off his hand and have it be used in the scheme. That way Hekiru couldn't be sure which of the two was Hibiki.]

Honestly, I only got that by reading the corresponding manga chapter, but what I still don't get is spoiler[how they faked that decapitation]. Does that get explained later on?

D used more dust to make a fake head.

It was hinted early in the episode that D could turn his hand into heads, his own mask, and other stuff at will. You can see his hand recovering after the decapitation, meaning he used it to create the head til the faker fell from the cliff. The manga go into intricate detail about everything, but it still makes sense in the anime, it's just blazing fast and compressed.

I just have to say that Yuichi Nakamura has an incredibly sexy voice in this show. Makes me sad when the Red Keeper doesn’t get much screen time in an episode.

It's a dark but hilarious Sentai-seasoned spin on a cultural issue still relevant to Japanese society.

Actually, this is the second series so far this season to feature religious cults in modern(ish) Japan. (See also A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics, which had a whole episode devoted to it and may not be done with it.)
